The final words on Retrofitting are that older, ‘harder-to-treat’, solid wall, homes can be draughty and cold. In addition to saving money on fuel bills, energy saving improvements make homes warmer and more comfortable. The health benefits have been demonstrated to outweigh the costs of the work – a real economic “Win-Win-Win”. Successive Governments really have been foolish not to invest much more in our home economics.

This Leadership Election is vital to the future of our Party, and with it Green Politics across England & Wales as we collectively face up to this Climate & Ecological Emergency. To me, there is one standout Candidate team… Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay are the political heavyweights in the contest.

As a pair, Carla & Adrian are offer a formidable and dynamic Leadership upgrade to the Green Party.

As the only political party that prioritises environmental and social justice, it is vital that we have a renewed organisational structure – and therefore a Revised Constitution – that enables the Green Party to grow, better engage and empower our Members and Councillors, and achieve greater Power to improve the future of People and our Planet.

The Revised Constitution, proposed within motion D01, will be debated at the Extraordinary Conference later this month. Its proposals deliver on the Holistic Review findings, and will allow the party to incorporate.

Some of the proposals do not go as far as some members may wish, whilst the proposed changes may go further than others may wish. Motion D01 therefore provides a middle way for members at Conference to agree a new structure that is acceptable to the majority of active GPEW members.

Crucially it makes provision for the party to move forward together, more effectively and in the right direction. If passed by the Extraordinary Conference, the Revised Constitution will then go to a ballot, and if agreed by the ballot, incorporation and adoption of the Revised Constitution will be effective from 1st January 2022.
